Beginner Level: There are several different fantasy worlds where you can play. Each musical note is represented by a different character that corresponds to that world. As each character lands on the colored keyboard at the top of the screen, simply press the corresponding piano key to play the right note at the right time.
Intermediate Level: As the player’s skill advances, the colored keyboard rotates from at the top of the screen to a position perpendicular the piano keyboard. The musical notes are still represented by characters, but now the player is getting comfortable reading music in its traditional horizontal format.
Transition Level: At this level of musical development, the fantasy world , as well as its corresponding characters, are replaced by traditional music notation. The notes are still colored to match the piano.
Advanced Level: When the player is ready, the backgrounds and colors are replaced by a traditional music staff. Because Piano Wizard teaches how to play the music first, hand/eye coordination—and skills like pitch, rhythm and reflexes—are now second nature. The player is able to read notation as a map to playing music, rather than frustrating hieroglyphics. |
